Live vs On-Demand Semesters
We offer four separate cohort-based semesters every year.
The Winter and Summer semesters are taught live in real-time. The Spring and Fall semesters are available on-demand only.
During a Live Semester, you’ll have the opportunity to attend each class live via webinar. Each class is recorded live and posted to the student dashboard the same evening as soon as the class concludes. You’ll be able to watch the recording of each class as soon as it is available throughout the semester.
During an On-Demand Semester, there are no scheduled live classes. Instead, the most recent set of live class recordings are made available to study from.
Both semester formats include access to the same core review course, practice exams, boot camps, homework, quizzes, and other study resources. The only difference is whether new live classes are being held.

Live Class Format
Live classes are held online using Zoom and are taught by instructor Zach Stone, P.E.
Classes meet twice per week over approximately 12 weeks, with each class lasting about 3 hours. Every session focuses on topics that commonly appear on the NCEES® Power PE Exam and covers the entire exam specifications. Each class includes worked example problems, exam strategy, and opportunities to ask questions.
Throughout each class, Zach teaches a combination of quantitative calculation problems, qualitative conceptual questions, and the engineering fundamentals needed to solve them with confidence. Every example problem is worked live from start to finish using the NCEES® approved exam calculator, allowing you to learn not only the solution, but also the calculator shortcuts, time-saving techniques, and problem-solving strategies used on exam day.
Before each class, you’ll receive a copy of the same PDF class notes that are being taught. This will give you the opportunity to print these notes so you can follow along, fill in the same diagrams, complete the same calculations as Zach walks you through each problem.
Live classes are highly interactive and feature an active chat where students ask questions, discuss solutions, and help one another throughout the session. Participation is encouraged, but never required. You can ask questions using the chat, or simply sit back, watch, and learn at your own pace.
Each week follows the same learning format: complete the assigned pre-work in the On-Demand Review Course, attend the live class (or watch the replay), then reinforce what you’ve learned by completing that week’s homework assignment.
Follow-up questions after class are strongly encouraged to continue the discussion and learning by posting on our online community.

Class Pre-Work
Before each live class, you’ll complete the assigned pre-work listed in the Class Syllabus. The pre-work consists of specific modules from the On-Demand Review Course that introduce the week’s topic and prepare you for the live class.
Although the On-Demand Review Course is organized by the official NCEES® exam specifications, the Live Class Syllabus and Schedule presents the material in a learning sequence that builds foundational concepts before progressing to more advanced applications. Each week’s class pre-work modules are linked directly from the syllabus for easy navigation.
Class Homework
After each class week, you’ll complete a homework assignment covering the material taught during the live sessions. The homework problems are included at the end of that week’s class notes.
Homework solutions become available after the second class recording for the week has been posted and are provided in both written quiz and video solution formats directly in the class portal.
How to Attend Live
Attending a live class is simple.
Each Monday before that week’s scheduled classes, you’ll receive an email calendar invitation for each live class taking place that week. Most weeks include two live classes, and each invitation is sent with its own webinar link. Because these are calendar invitations, they’ll typically appear on both your email calendar and in your inbox, making them easy to find.
At class time, simply click the webinar link from your computer, tablet, or smartphone to join. Most students can join directly from their web browser, although you may also install the webinar desktop application if you prefer.
To get the most out of each class, it’s recommended that you print the class notes beforehand and have your NCEES®-approved calculator, pencil, and scratch paper ready. This allows you to work through each problem alongside the instructor in real time.
The only requirement is to show up ready to learn. Participation is encouraged, but never required. If you’re running late, simply join whenever you’re able. If you can’t attend a class, you can watch the replay afterward.
There is no penalty for arriving late or missing a live class, so there’s no need to notify the instructor if you’re unable to attend. Missing a live class does not affect your eligibility for the Retake Guarantee or your ability to watch the class replay as many times as needed.
Live Class Replays
Every live class is recorded and posted to the student dashboard in the “Live Class Weekly Webinar” course shortly after the class ends. An email notification is sent to all students as soon as the class recording has been posted and is available to watch.
Class replays are ideal if you:
- Miss a live class
- Want to review a difficult topic
- Prefer studying on your own schedule
- Want to revisit material while preparing for your exam
One advantage of watching the class replays is that you can increase the playback speed in 0.25Ă— increments up to 2Ă— speed. Many students use this feature to review material more efficiently, allowing a three-hour class to be completed in as little as an hour and a half.
The Monthly Subscription Plan includes access to the current semester’s class recordings as they are released. When a new semester begins, access transitions to the new semester, and recordings from the previous semester are no longer included. New recordings then become available according to the current semester’s release schedule. This only affects the class recordings. Monthly Subscription students continue to have full access to the On-Demand Review Course, Practice Exams, and Boot Camps throughout their active enrollment.

Unlike the Monthly Subscription Plan, the Unlimited Package includes uninterrupted access to the complete set of live class recordings throughout your enrollment. When a new semester begins, you’ll retain access to the previous semester’s class recordings while also receiving access to the new semester’s recordings as they are released.

Semester Schedule
Semesters are named after the season that they start in. Semesters typically follow the same repeating annual schedule:

Semester schedules are published one year in advance. To view and download the current semester schedules please visit the Live Class Page > Schedules.
Students may enroll at any time. Your enrollment begins immediately after purchase, giving you instant access to the available course materials for the current semester.
If you enroll after a semester has already begun, you’ll automatically be enrolled in the current semester and continue transitioning into each new semester for the duration of your enrollment. You can begin studying immediately and catch up on any classes you’ve missed by watching the available class recordings.
